We are excited to announce the addition of another coffee to our lineup – and this one has a great story behind it!
While we were manning the booth at Barnesville’s Community Showcase, we were giving away free samples of several of our coffees. Lots of people were lured in by the wonderful aromas coming from our booth, and most were very enthusiastic about our blends of beans. But there were several people who approached and said they like a really simple coffee, and asked if we had anything like that. We’d recommend the Breakfast Blend, and inevitably, we’d see ‘the face’. The one that said the coffee was definitely not simple enough. By the end of the day it was a joke between Jaye and me – we should have served up a non-specialty coffee, commercially produced on a large scale, that would typically be served in the church basement on Sunday morning.
Once the Showcase was over, we regrouped to discuss how the day went, how the coffee was received, etc. And we got to thinking – maybe we do need to offer a variety that is less complex and bold, something that is more simple, to appeal to people who don’t typically drink specialty coffee. So we asked our Roastmaster if he had a variety that would fulfill those requirements. And while he can’t supply something that is comparable to coffees that are mass-produced by large-scale commercial roasters, he did have a blend that is simple in comparison to most specialty coffees.
So we came up with a name fitting for a simple coffee, something that pokes just a little bit of fun at how it came to be in our lineup, and we asked our graphic design artist to come up with a new icon, again, something simple and clean.
